Punctured Doily

This mechanized paper doily has been reclaimed as a handmade object.

Paper doilies copy crocheted doilies. They are machine-made products, but originally doilies are handmade. I've reclaimed the mechanized doily as a handmade object by puncturing it with a pin, filling it with tiny holes and turning it into lace.

This is also the re-feminization of an object that originally came from the intimate world of women. Generally crocheted doilies were produced by women, but men control the factory production of the paper doily. Through this detailed puncturing process I've re-feminized it.
